Truck Radiator Factory Inspection: A Concise Overview
In a truck's operation, the radiator is crucial. Its water chambers, with different core thicknesses and sizes, impact heat dissipation and overall vehicle performance. Rigorous factory inspections are essential for reliable radiators.
I. Appearance & Dimension Checks
A. Appearance
- Core: Ensure tube - fin fit, no bent tubes or flattened fins. Core surface should be flat, with uniform fin count (±5 error). Only 2% of welded parts can be hand - pulled apart.
- Water Chamber: It should form a 90 - degree angle with the pipe. No dents, tin lumps, and clear markings. Tight fit with the main plate, smooth tin distribution at welds.
- Other Parts: Secure tie bars, well - welded side plates. Clean, non - deformed surface. Painted nuts, repainted specific areas. Correct installation of brackets, wind deflector, and intercooler. Proper packaging and clear markings.
B. Dimensions
- Water chamber - pipe hole position: L±5mm error.
- Core diagonal: ≤800mm, ≤3mm difference; >800mm, ≤5mm difference.
- Opening (hole spacing): L±2mm error.
- Side plate hole spacing: <0.5mm error.
II. Sealing Tests
A. Overall Sealing
- Pressure Test: Fill radiator, cap it, and use a tester. Check radiator cap valve at 27 - 37kPa. Then, test overall seal at 50kPa; stable pressure means good seal.
- Immersion Test: Immerse radiator in clean water, introduce air, and look for bubbles indicating leaks.
B. Water Chamber Inlet/Outlet
Traditional methods can't detect internal blockages well. Use special tooling (inlet and blocking leakage detection) and a dry detector for effective inspection.
III. Heat Dissipation Checks
A. Simulated Conditions
Build a lab test platform. Control coolant and air parameters. Measure coolant inlet and outlet temperatures to assess heat dissipation against QC/T 907 - 2013 standards.
B. Thermal Resistance
Use constant heat source or steady - state methods. Apply heat, measure surface temps, calculate thermal resistance following GB/T standards. Lower resistance means better performance.
IV. Pressure Pulse Test
Connect radiator to a test bench. Apply adjustable pressure (0 - 6MPa) and set cycles (up to 10 million) with hydraulic oil or coolant. Monitor for leaks and deformation. Pass if it meets QC - T468 and JB/T 6726.2 standards.
Only radiators passing all these inspections are qualified for factory release, ensuring truck safety and stable operation.
